Holiday Season

by Staff Writer

As the holiday season nears, I have been thinking about sitcom Christmas episodes. I have come to realize that I rarely watch those joy-filled Xmas eps around the holiday season. Take Friends for example. There are so many of them, at least one per season, but I rarely find myself watching them on Christmas day, or even during the holiday season. I guess this is because I usually watch the seasons from beginning to end, and I rarely care if I’m watching a thanksgiving episode in february.

When they (whoever put it out) put FRIENDS - The One with all the Holidays (also B-days, Weddings, etc.) onto the shelves, I thought it was sort of silly. I mean, if I already have ALL the seasons, what’s the point of spending money I need on something that I already have, right? But now, I’m thinking, well, if I wanted to watch all the Christmas episodes in a row, I could do that, with that special DVD, couldn’t? Just something was thinking about.

I love watching FRIENDS, but thanksgiving and christmas episodes especially, always make me cheerful. Take TOW The Late Thanksgiving for instance, I thought the floating heads was knee-slapping good fun and when Joey bursts the door open and goes flying across the room onto the tables off food, knocking all the food on the floor, that just always kills me. Especially when Chandler screams out, My Cranberries! (which had been a running joke throughout the episode) but the best moment throughout that episode, while it wasn’t the funniest is when Monica comes back from the bedroom, (having have left the scene before Joey burst the door open) and Chandler says to her, Look what the floating heads did! and she says I don’t care and then explains that that was the adoption agency on the phone and that they’re getting a baby, everyone in the audience screams. Which is what I love most about the show. The total love that the audience has for the characters, which I would know, since I’m such a huge fan. xD.
