AI: The Final Countdown
So here’s the deal. As we start watching the penultimate episode of American Idol tonight, I’m not going into this thinking Adam Lambert will win. I know I’ve been on that bandwagon all along, but honestly, at this point, the rules change a little. Up until now, it was only necessary for him to have about 35% (or less) of the vote to be safe. Now its necessary for him to have more than 50%. Let’s just say that Adam and Kris Allen are going into this week evenly matched, meaning both had about 35% of the vote last week. That leaves over 30% of the vote to be split between them. That’s a lot of votes.
Even if Adam goes in to this week with 42% of the vote (I played with the numbers a little at dialidol and that’s what I came up with) and Kris has 37%. There is still 21% of the vote left. If that all went to Kris, he would easily have the win.
So you can see why I don’t think that this is really the runaway event that people are saying.
Right before last week, I revised some of what I had been saying and, after really thinking this through, started becoming of the mind that Danny Gokeywould go out in third place (the better place for him to be allowed to make his gospel CD), Adam would be in second place (so he can make the CD he should make) and Kris would win (so he can make the boring bubblegum pop thing that 19E would insist upon.
So although it would be sad for Adam to come so far only to lose to such a boring guy, it really doesn’t even matter at this point. I believe I’ve mentioned this before. Adam Lambert is this year’s Chris Daughtry. He’s already won this competition no matter who is crowned this week.
