Alimony Matters on Gary Unmarried

by

In this week’s installment of Gary Unmarried, we find Gary suddenly realizing that the sooner Allison and Dr. Krandall get married, the sooner he can stop paying alimony. So he set about telling Dr. Krandall, in their therapy sessions, how wonderful, beautiful and perfect Allison is and what a wonderful wife she will make, in order to push Dr. Krandall into setting a date for the wedding.

It all backfires, however, when Dr. Krandall takes this to mean that Gary is still in love with Allison himself. Dr. Krandall begins to feel somewhat guilty for falling in love with Allison, because he thinks he might not have done all he could during therapy to save Gary and Allison’s marriage. So Dr. Krandall breaks off he and Allison’s engagement.

Of course, this makes Allison mad, but it also makes her wonder if Gary is still in love with her. So Gary insists on kissing Allison to see if he still loves her. He doesn’t. And, luckily for Allison, Dr. Krandall realizes that he loves her too much to not marry her, so they get back together. Although, they still don’t set a date.

On a side story line, Vanessa feels like Gary is refusing to settle in to his new home, so she buys all sorts of homey things, like dishes and glasses and bathroom stuff, but ends up taking it all back when Gary insists on still eating with paper plates in Frisbees. Honestly, I thought they were gonna make it that Gary was afraid to get serious with Vanessa, but it was really that he just didn’t want to get too comfortable in his “temporary” home, since he still considered Allison’s house his house.

There are still two things about this show that bother me. First of all, I’m having a hard time getting over the replacement of Laura Marano’s Louise with Kathryn Newton. Don’t get me wrong, Newton is cute, but Marano was a much better actress.

The other thing that bothers me, a little, is that Gary just got divorced, and already has a steady chick. I’m not saying I think he should be sleeping around or anything, it just seems too soon to have him already all set up with someone.

But maybe that’s just me.
