Allison Rocks Out on American Idol
Slashing (get it, Slash-ing). and cutting on American Idol, the hard rock version. I’m definitely starting late tonight, cause I know I’ll want to fast forward through lots of stuff.
After the Ford video - kinda lame - the show moves along to the group song, School’s Out - kinda bad. Sadly, neither Danny Gokey nor Kris Allen have realized that rock music is not their forte. They still insist on singing. This time Slash was playing the guitar, thankfully, instead of Kris, who should never, ever again attempt to play rock guitar. Ever.
So, now on to the slashing. Oh, wait, first for some pointless chatter between Ryan Seacrest and the Idols. Also, we had to talk about the scream heard ’round the world. Please, I’ve had enough. It’s over, I never want to hear about it again. At least Danny can laugh about it, even if the rest of us can’t. As for Allison Iraheta’s comment that “she was asking for it” I can only agree that, yes, the judges are asking for it and someone should give it to them. So you go, girl.
I want to fast forward through Paula Abdul’s performance, but I’m strangely fascinated by it. I was never a fan back in the 80’s, but I do have to admit that she is the only one of the judging panel on this show that was actually a contributing member of society. She sings, she dances, she choreographs, and she was a pop star. None of the others can say that. I am glad when it’s over anyway. I do fast forward through her little chat with Ryan, cause I really don’t want to know what she has to say.
Next up is No Doubt with Just a Girl. I like the acoustic version of this song better. Plus, Gwen Stefani is sounding kinda weird tonight. Or is that just me? Maybe it’s just the Idol stage that makes people sound mushy mouthed and breathless. Gwen also seems like she’s been drinking out of Paula’s funky technicolored koolaid cup. Suddenly, I’m wishing I had fast forwarded through this, too. Unfortunately, I didn’t wait long enough to start watching, because as I’m attempting to fast foward through the Ryan/Gwen chatter, I catch up with the live show. *sigh*
On to cutting and slashing. All the Idols are center stage. Ryan starts out with Allison and Danny. Then, after a small fake out, on to Adam Lambert and, finally, Kris. Ryan sends one person back to the couches of safety and that is Kris. Oh, no!!!! Now, I’m worried. I guess I did underestimate those tweenies and their voting stamina. In a way, though, it doesn’t really matter to me. I know that Adam should win, but I’ve come to terms with the fact that he may not/probably won’t, cause this show can’t be counted on to always pick the right person. So if Adam does not win, I don’t care about which of the other three does win, since I really don’t care about any of them. At this point, I guess I’d be OK no matter who goes home. I’d love for Adam to get a home town visit, cause, as mentioned yesterday, I’ve fallen in love with the entire Lambert family. But either way, he’s going to be the highlight of the concert and I’ll be there. I’ll also be buying his album.
So we get a little review of this week the year Chris Daughtry got booted. That was a shock, so I can only hope that this is not foreshadowing the shock of Adam getting the boot this week. I was a fan of Chris Daughty on the show. But I had two problems with him. One is that I feel like pretty much everything he sings sounds almost exactly the same as everything else he sings. Don’t get me wrong, I like his sound, but variety is also a good thing sometimes. The other issue I had was how he always tilts his head back while singing so that I’m forced to look up his nose. I solve that one by just looking at something else.
The longer I sit here waiting for the final vote, the more nervous I get. Maybe I won’t be OK if Adam leaves. My stomach is starting to feel a little sick and I almost want to just turn off the TV and go on with my life. But I’m not strong enough.
Ryan is about to send one other person back to safety. That person is Adam. YAY!!!! OK, I admit it, I jumped up and clapped my hands a little bit.
Down to Allison and Danny, and Danny is safe!! Wow, that’s kinda unfair, since Allison has been pretty good throughout this competition. But I feel pretty confident that someone is gonna get their hands on her and we’ll hear from her again. Well, at least Laura will be happy, cause she was pretty much convinced that this was the end of Danny and he’s her favorite.
So I guess Allison should have sang the Jefferson Airplane song after all, since the irony of picking a song with the word “cry” in it is probably just hitting her about now.

ha ha ha ha…just got to this review when I checked for this week’s review. That was a pretty good account of last week’s slash and chop show. But I do have to mention that when Allison hit Danny hard in the group song it was the best thing ever on this show all season.
