American Idiots

by Toni

Aliens in America is the only new CW sitcom. It has an official website where you can watch several clips from the show.

Although I think I see what they are after in terms of the feel of the show (something like the Wonder Years meets Married with Children), I think this outsider thing has been done before. You know, geeky kid with no friends, befriends other geeky kid with no friends (in this case a foreign exchange student), and they take on the world. Or whatever.

Also, I’m not sure I want to laugh at jokes aimed at Pakistanis as terrorists. I object to the entire point of something like that, which is that Americans are stupid intolerant bigots who think that anyone from another country is evil. Beyond which, I don’t think any joke aimed at 9/11 could possibly be funny. As they actually posted a clip with just such a joke, I’m afraid of what else they might think is joke-worthy.

I doubt I’ll be watching.
