And Then There Were Nine
American Idol’s results show will take us from 10 to 9. Probably. I guess there’s a chance they will use the judges’ save, but I doubt it. Unless Danny Gokey or Lil Rounds is the one going home and I find that highly unlikely. I’m going to do my best to be lucid during my recap tonight, but I have pneumonia and I’m a bit drugged up. So we’ll see how it goes.
First we have the recap of last night. Oh, while I’m ignoring all this, let me say that I checked out dialidol and their numbers agree with what I said yesterday, the bottom three on dialidol is Scott MacIntyre, Michael Sarver and Megan Corkrey. So let’s see what happens tonight.
Now we have a medley of motown hits for the big group sing. I like how they are getting around the Scott issue this year. It’s actually entertaining, cause every week they have to have them all standing still or sitting or whatever, and yet somehow make it seem like a choreographed dance number. Tricky.
Maybe it’s just me, but I’m not enjoying the Ford commercials as much as I used to. Now we have Ruben Studdard singing and although this is not my type of music, I’ve always loved his voice. He does sweat a lot, though, doesn’t he?
After a little chatter between Ryan and the Idols, we finally get to the point of this show. Eliminations.
First up is Adam Lambert and he is safe. Next is Matt and he is in the bottom 3. Whoa! How is that even possible? Kris is safe, although at first he thinks he is in the bottom 3 when Ryan sykes him out.
Now up we have Lil and Michael together. Ryan points out to Lil that both Jennifer Hudson and Kimberly Locke sang Heatwave in the past and both ended up in the bottom three on that week. But Lil is safe and Michael is in the bottom three.
Now we have a duet with Joss Stone and Smokey Robinson. What is it with Idol putting young girls together with old guys? I’m just seeing a theme here. As I listen to Joss, I can see that Megan thinks she sounds like that. She most emphathetically does not. Not. Smokey still sounds amazing and we all know that some of these mentors should never try to sing on this show cause they don’t all come off sounding so great.
Why does everyone in the crowd boo when they see who’s in the bottom 3? Clearly, the people in bottom three are there cause people haven’t voted for them. Someone has to go home each week, and
Back to the eliminations, Allison is safe. Then we have Anoop and he is safe. Danny is up next and he is safe. Last up are Scott and Megan. I could lose either one. I could actually lose both. Unfortunately, Megan is safe and Scott is not.
Ryan then sends Scott back to safety. Yikes! I was wrong again. I guess if I just keep picking Scott to go home, I’ll be right at some point. If Matt goes, it really won’t be fair and I think Michael would agree that Matt was and is way better than him.
Stevie Wonder performs next, a medley of his songs. Well, now it’s obvious why Scott could not go home tonight. I love Stevie. I know American Idol is the biggest show on TV, but isn’t Stevie Wonder better than this? I mean, really.
So now we are down to the end. Matt is safe and Michael has to sing for his supper. They will not be using their save. The judges pretend to discuss it, but clearly they aren’t going to do anything. And they don’t.

Saw that greyhound coming a mile away. I hope Sarver can get the tire tread marks out of his jeans.
It finally dawned on me too about Megan/Joy/Corkrey/Corkscrew…whatever the hell her name is…thinking that she’s as “unique” and “quirky” as Joss Stone. I never did like Joss Stone so that explains my extreme dislike for her trashy and very inferior counterpart.
I like to laugh with Scott now. Because he seems to like to laugh at himself. He can stay until Corkscrew gets the axe.
And as for Stevie selling out and appearing on this show…while I do find that disturbing…I will probably keel over if MJ ever ends up on there.
