Big Bang Grows On You
I gave Big Bang Theory another chance on Monday night and it’s growing on me. Even my husband, who hates TV just on principle, sat with me and watched a little bit. He even smiled.
I think what I’m liking best is the way the geeks are so involved in their stuff. (Isn’t that a great word? I love the word “stuff.”) But you know what I mean? They know everything about Superman, all the movies and all the comic books, whatever there is to know, they know and they’ve worked it all out. They know they entire subculture of Superman and why he does what he does, or why he should be able to do what he does.
I love that. I’m (scarily) a lot like that. I know all those silly facts and get all involved in the shows I watch, too. On some forums, I’m known as a bit of a Buffy expert. I can name pretty much any episode from a quote or a scene. Which is probably not normal and info I should have kept to myself, I guess, but it’s true.
But its really why I’m liking this show. The guys are just like me and people I know. Well, maybe a lot smarter, but that doesn’t really interfere with anything. I mean, it’s not like they are so smart that they are not fun. So far, I think this might be the sitcom I’m liking best this season, but there are still some yet to come. I’m kinda looking forward to Samantha Who? which doesn’t start for a couple of weeks yet.

i love how they all have shades of bill haversham (freaks and geeks) to them.

Hi Robyn! It’s OK to be a geek. Really. I’m pretty sucked in myself and I didn’t think I would be. Also, tell your friends that Leonard is mine!!!
Thanks for not lurking today. Feel free to de-lurk all the time.
