Idol Goes Opry

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

randy20travis-greenSo here we are up to the Top 11 on American Idol singing Grand Ole Opry songs. I can’t wait. (Please read that last sentence with my intended sarcasm.) What this theme really means to me, is the same as the theme we’ve had almost all year, that is songs and people I don’t like.

So here, we go. This is American Idol. Oh, no. They are really planning on introducing the judges like that every week. *sigh*

The mentor this week is Randy Travis. Even though Ryansays he is one of the best selling solo artists of all time, I cannot name one song he’s sung. Nor do I want to.

NY Comic Con: More Along Artist Alley

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

johnnobleAlso along the wall in the autograph area of Artist Alley were several more people. Some I even recognized. It was pretty much lunch time by now and we saw Robert Culp but he was eating so we went away and when we came back down past we had a chance to see him. He seemed nice, but a little distant. He looked older than I expected, but I think maybe it was just cause he was so thin. His cheeks looked hollow, if you know what I mean. Talking with him was a bit awkward, since even I’m not old enough to remember I Spy, Anne is too young for Greatest American Hero, and one can only talk about Everybody Loves Raymond for so long. We didn’t get an autograph, since he was charging.

Down that same table, there was also Aaron Douglas (Battlestar Galactica). The line was kind of long at that point and since neither of us watch the show, we just moved on. Besides, after him was John Noble and Jasika Nicole from Fringe and that show I do watch. Jasika wasn’t at her spot - probably at lunch - but John was and the line wasn’t too long. I’m guessing cause (more…)

I’m in Trouble . . . I Need Help

Saturday, January 10th, 2009

So I sat down and wrote out a complete schedule of all the shows I want to watch coming up in the next few weeks and I realized something.  I’m not gonna be able to do it.  There just isn’t enough time in the day for it.  Especially since I went back to work full-time.  *sigh*

Here’s the breakdown:

Mondays (7 hours)
8:00 pm - Chuck (NBC), House (FOX), The Secret Life of the American Teenager (ABC Fam), The Big Bang Theory (CBS)
8:30 pm - How I Met Your Mother (CBS)
9:00 pm - Heroes (NBC), The Bachelor (ABC)

Tuesdays - (4 hours)
8:00 pm - 90210 (CW), American Idol (FOX)
9:00 pm - Fringe (FOX)
10:00 pm - Law and Order: SVU (NBC)

Wednesday (2 1/2-3 hours)
8:00 pm - American Idol (FOX), America’s Next Top Model (CW)
9:00 pm - Lost (ABC)

Thursday (4 hours)
8:00 pm - Bones (FOX), Smallville (CW)
9:00 pm - Kitchen Nightmares/Hell’s Kitchen (FOX), Supernatural (CW)

Friday (4 hours)
8:00 pm - Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (FOX)
9:00 pm - Dollhouse (FOX), Monk (USA)
10:00 pm - Psych (USA)

That’s over 20 hours of television. There is no way I’m fitting that all in, still working full-time, maintaining two blogs and having a life besides. Some shows are gonna have to go, but I just don’t know which ones. Monday is the worst. I was just coming around to being OK with the fact that Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles had been banished to Fridays, mostly because Monday’s wouldn’t be so crowded anymore. Then they moved both House and The Secret Life to the same time slot on Monday. So now its gonna be even harder.

I guess I’ll just have to watch some shows online, since I can only DVR two things at a time. But when will I have time to watch these other shows. They kinda frown upon that sort of thing where I work. (”Gee, boss, I’m sorry, but I didn’t have any other free time to watch The Bachelor. I didn’t think you’d mind.”) *sigh*

I think I’m a TV junkie. I may need help.

What Am I Watching Now?

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

I was talking to some friends about shows we watch in common, and it was pointed out to me that I watch a lot of TV. I didn’t really think so, well, I guess I did, but I didn’t think it was that noticable. Anyway, it got me to thinking about (more…)

Can You Relate To Fringe?

Friday, September 19th, 2008

My second look at Fringe didn’t make me any happier than the first. I really want to love it, but somehow it falls a little short for me. It may be the leads. I’m still not into the snarky Pacey (and don’t bother to tell me, cause I just don’t care, what his name is on the show), or the zany professor, or the confused and tortured female lead.

It’s not that I hate them, I’m just not in love with any one. I think after two episodes, two and half hours of television, I should at least like one of them. Even just a little bit. But I’m kinda eh about them.

I read that the eps would all be stand alone (and not one continuously running loop of confusion like Lost) but, of course, there would be longer story arcs over the course of the season. I’m assuming the long-term stuff is about Massive Dynamic and why they want to kill everyone. Or whatever.

Fringe is on the Edge

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

I didn’t get it. But sometimes that happens when you just see one episode of a show. Especially a show that’s clearly going to be complicated and has just started out. But I so much wanted it to be good. I wanted to get it.

I watched the first episode of Fringe (”presented with limited commerical interruption”) and maybe I was just expecting too much, but I wasn’t thrilled. I purposely haven’t read any reviews about the show, since I wasn’t able to watch it right when it aired and I wanted to see it without seeing what everyone thought. I’ll read other reviews after I write this one, so I know this is my opinion and not anyone else’s.
