“Jillian Opts for Normal” on the Bachelorette

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

ej67uoOne more time, here’s Sandy the Reality TV Guru with one last installment for The Bachelorette.

Well it seemed like the longest show in Bachelorette history, and it was certainly chock full of the drama and bad acting that we’ve come to expect from this show, but it finally came to an end on the big island of Hawaii. And while the ending had been hyped up with twists and confessions and a crazy last 5 minutes, as usual, it played out exactly as the spoilers claimed it would with no surprises whatsoever.

Just a brief recap here because there’s really nothing to bother pointing out on the last show. They all go off pretty much the same. Jillian’s parents and her cousin came down to Hawaii and first up they met Normal Ed. Once again. Ed was laying it on thick about how much he loves Jillian. Told her family this and pretty much asked her Dad if he was okay with him asking Jillian to marry him. Like I said in an earlier review, Ed stepped it up pretty good when he returned from his little break, for whatever reason he returned home, and decided that he was going to ask Jillian to marry him pretty much from that time on.

In another tasteless move, (more…)

“Reid Delivers the Goods But Goes Home Anyway…Or Does He?” on the Bachelorette

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

9tk28oLots of rumours floating around about the ending of the Bachelorette but before I get to those let’s have a look at what happened this week during the fantasy suite dates.

First up we have Kiptyn the Molester meeting up with Jillian in Maui for a little daredevil high wire fun. They hooked themselves up to harnesses and spent the day about 30 feet in the air walking across boards, ropes and eventually jumping off the top of a pole in a “leap of faith” to try to catch a trapeze bar. Now I know that this is one of those outward bound type activities that are so popular right now but I honestly don’t know why anyone would bother. It looks like a stupid way to spend a day and at this stage of the competition I can’t see how this activity is going to let Jillian know anything about whether her and Kiptyn are a “good fit”. Kiptyn does encourage Jillian to get up on the top of that pole but I can’t help but think that I personally would not want to spend eternity with a man who encourages me to try death defying stunts for kicks. I think I would have more respect for a man who just admitted that it was a stupid thing to do and encouraged me to get back on the ground pronto.

So they move on to (more…)

“Adios to the Douchebag” on The Bachelorette

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

More from our friend, Sandy the Reality TV Guru:

2v9qec7Things are looking up on The Bachelorette as we finally leave the snow and cold behind and head for Spain. Too bad Wes the Douche is still hanging around but we’ll catch up with him later. First up is Kiptyn the Molester in Madrid. Jillian meets up with him and takes him to watch some Flamenco dancers. Unbeknownst to Kippy, this date isn’t just about taking in some Spanish culture but rather to partake in it. And Jillian has absolutely no rhythm so you have to wonder why she’d agree to this but they are going to learn how to do the Flamenco and don the costumes and everything. Apparently Kiptyn the Molester gave the producers the wrong measurements because the outfit they put on him was two sizes too small, especially the pants, especially in the crotch area. When they did that voiceover where Jillian said she got to see a little more of Kiptyn on that date I think everyone who was watching was thinking the same thing. We all got to see a little more of Kiptyn in those pants.

So after making fools of themselves attempting (more…)

“Normal Ed is Back” on The Bachelorette

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

r0qhbtJust a few more weeks for The Bachelorette and thanks to our friend Sandy the Reality TV Guru, we’re getting the inside scoop.

It was finally time for our Jillian to go meet some “fah-milies” (again, I have no idea what kind of accent she uses for that word) this week on The Bachelorette. I never thought we’d get out of western Canada for this to happen. And thank goodness none of the guys lived anywhere where there was any snow at the time of year that the family visits were filmed. I had visions of Jillian romping and rolling around in the snow with the families and I was sure I couldn’t take one more moment of it.

First up we have (more…)

“The Train Stops Here” on The Bachelorette

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

trainAnother wonderful installment from Sandy the Reality TV Guru updating us on this week’s episode of The Bachelorette.

Well, we’re down to eight guys vying for Jillian’s attention and we’re no closer to figuring out just what the girl is looking for in a future husband so let’s just throw them all on the Rocky Mountaineer train through British Columbia and Alberta and see what happens. Sounds like a good plan, and so very Canadian. Actually, I’m kind of jealous of that train trip. It’s one that I’ve always wanted to go on. I mean if I can get my perfect Ken Doll Jake to fly me to British Columbia, we’re so gonna do that trip only this time it’ll be all one on one, all of the time. What do you say Jake? I’m waiting. And you’ve apparently got some extra time on your hands…well we’ll get to that later.

The train takes off from the station and we are informed that there are going to be two one on one dates and one group date this week. There will be five roses handed out and those five guys will be taking Jillian home to meet their families. And as a Canadian I’d just like to point out that no one I know pronounces family the way Jillian does. I’m not sure where she’s picked up that strange accent but it’s not Canadian. Just thought I’d put that out there.

First up is Robby the Bartender. Not surprisingly, (more…)

“Normal Ed Takes a Break” on The Bachelorette

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

21amhyeAnother wonderful installment from Sandy the Reality TV Guru updating us on this week’s episode of The Bachelorette.

Apparently we’re going to be getting a full out tour of British Columbia during this season of the Bachelorette so in keeping with the usual tourist spots in that beautiful Canadian province, albeit snowy and cold in the mountains during the winter, we’re off to Whistler. I really would like to know how much the 2010 Olympics is paying the show for a little free advertising of the next winter games.

This week the boys are in for two one-on-one dates and one group date. Since the numbers are dwindling, everyone gets to participate. Which is good since we still have to figure out who the douche with the girlfriend back home is…but will we? Of course not.

First up on the one-on-one date is (more…)

“Will the Douche with the Girlfriend Please Stand Up” on the Bachelorette

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Once again, we can thank Sandy the Reality TV Guru for sending us a post about The Bachelorette so that at least there is some content on this site. The good news is that I should be getting a computer soon.

ei2osoWell the boys got a real treat this week, they’re giving up the tool shed for good. Apparently all that beautiful sun and warm temperatures were getting to our little Jilly because the show has decided to move north to the perpetual rain and hair frizzing humidity of Vancouver, British Columbia…Jillian’s hometown.

After getting a tour of their new 3 bedroom suite at the Fairmont Royal York hotel, the guys are informed that we’re in for a one on one date, a group date and the dreaded two on one date where someone is guaranteed a bus ride back to oblivion.

First up we have Kiptyn. (more…)

Ragin’ Dave Needs Another Drink on The Bachelorette

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

And here's a picture of Ragin' Dave. I know he looks kinda hot but don't let that fool you...he's a psycho.

And here's a picture of Ragin' Dave. I know he looks kinda hot but don't let that fool you...he's a psycho.

Thank goodness for Sandy the Reality TV Guru for sending these posts. Since I am still without my computer, I just cannot seem to get anything posted. But at least you get to keep up on The Bachelorette!

Things are heating up in the old tool shed and we might just have our first ever arrest on The Bachelorette. Dave’s rage and obvious dislike for all things Juan are once again taking precedence over the fact that Jillian is a kissing bandit. In fact, the only one she hasn’t planted one on at this point is Ragin’ Dave and from the previews for next week, it doesn’t look like (more…)

Hot Tub Harris on The Bachelorette

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

jakethepilotHere is another fun guest post from Sandy the Reality TV Guru:

Perhaps it’s because most of the reality shows are on hiatus for the season but I’m still trying to figure out how ABC can give up 2 hours of prime time television for both The Bachelor and now for The Bachelorette. I expected it for the season premiere last week but I was surprised that the trend continued this week. I hope they don’t plan on doing this for the entire series. I can do with a little less face time from the majority of these psycho dudes.

Last night we were treated to the reason why “Hot Tub Harris” got (more…)

The Bachelorette is Back

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

jillian-harris-bThis is a guest post by a friend of mine, Sandy the Reality TV Guru:

Just when you thought it was going to be safe to tune your television sets to ABC again on Monday nights after this week’s finale of “Dancing With The Stars”, and be free of all that was wrong with last season’s instalment of “The Bachelor“, alas…it is not to be. Immediately after the 4 minute run over of the “Dancing With The Stars” final dance off, in which our poor broken hearted jilted Melissa Rycroft is an odds on favourite to take the shiny disco ball and hopefully remove herself from my television set permanently, on comes the fourth instalment of “The Bachelor’s” testosterone overloaded (more…)

Watching Sitcoms?

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

thebigbandtheory_lrgI know I haven’t been writing about sitcoms too much lately, which is a little sad, since this site is called Watching Sitcoms. I guess there just aren’t too many sitcoms that I like to watch anymore. Maybe there never really were. At least not anytime in the last few years.

There are a couple I still watch, every week, even though I don’t always talk about them, and they are The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother. The last couple of weeks were repeats, and so is this week, which makes me unhappy, cause I do miss them when they aren’t on.

I think part of the problem why I haven’t been blogging about the eps, which were great, is that Mondays are a very busy night. At 8:00 pm, I’m also watching Chuck, House, The Bachelor and The Secret Life of the American Teenager. I’ve basically been DVRing two shows upstairs (Chuck and House) and two shows downstairs (The Bachelor and Big Bang Theory/How I Met Your Mother). I have to DVR The Secret Life when it repeats at 10:00 pm. Of course, I also watch Heroes and True Beauty on Mondays (or at least I DVR them and watch them at some point).

how-i-met-your-mother-tv-11So what that all means is that I end up watching The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother on Tuesday and Wednesday during my lunch hour when I come home from work to eat. So I’m downstairs and not near the computer. I should take notes so I can blog later, but I never do, cause I’m eating.

And that’s really my entire story about why I don’t talk about sitcoms too often. I’ll try to do better.

The Bachelor Drama is Revealed

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

jillianAlright, I finally got a chance to watch Monday night’s episode of The Bachelor. Jason dumped Jillian??? I don’t know why I was surprised, really, since I assumed that Molly would be second place and that he will pick Melissa in the end. But somehow, watching the ep, I thought he had more going on with Jillian. Honestly, I just had a hard time getting past that bad porn movie music they played when Jason and Jillian were in the hot tub. Maybe that’s what confused me.

So here’s what I’m hearing. The big reveal (more…)

The Bachelor Goes Home

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

stephThe Bachelor actually surprised me Monday night. Although I am glad that Jason finally came to his senses and let Stephanie go home. Not that I didn’t like her, she seems like a lovely woman. She was very gracious when she left, too, not crying and whining and swearing and threatening like some of them do. Maybe she can be the next Bachelorette. She already has that great sob story. (Her husband died in a plane crash when her baby was just a few weeks old. In case you somehow managed to miss that.)

But, face it, there was just no chemistry between Stephanie and Jason. Even I could tell that and I’m not known for being perceptive about things that don’t smack me upside the head with a two by four.

I can’t say I’m happy about the people he did keep, though, if it comes to that. My mom likes Melissa. I don’t hate her, but she’s just a little too perky and cheerleader-like for me. Molly has kinda scary buggy eyes. Of course, that’s just being personal and critical, cause she’s probably very nice. But I just think her eyes say she’s pushy and used to getting her own way.

As for the other two, I agree with everyone else that Naomi is too young. She is not ready to be the mom of a little boy. Especially a little boy who comes across as a bit spoiled. (Granted, maybe he was just over tired and missed his dad, but shouldn’t a 4 year old have been fast asleep by 8 pm and, therefore, unable to upset his father’s date plans?) I thought Naomi proved that when she talked about being all alone with Jason and said that’s how it would be forever. No, sorry, it won’t be that way, cause there’s a little boy involved. And I have news for you, when Jason has to make a decision between Ty and you, guess who’s going to win?

The last one . . . wait, who is it again. No, really, I can’t even remember who the other person is. Oh, right, Jillian. I like her. But I think her Canadian accent would get on my nerves after a while. Eh? She’s cute but not that cute and I just don’t know if she’s really all that into him. Maybe that’s just what they want us to see.

Oh, the highlight of the entire episode for me was seeing the Sleepless in Seattle house, which I actually recognized and yelled out, look, its the Sleepless in Seattle house, just moments before Molly mentioned it. Anyway, I hear there is a big surprise in store for the dramatic ending, so stay tuned.
