Jamie Kennedy: Kickin’ It Old Skool
Tuesday, May 1st, 2007Jamie Kennedy is trying to resurrect his acting career after the collapse of his semi-situation-comedy television show The Jamie Kennedy Experiment, (which last aired back in April of 2004) with his new movie release: Kickin’ It Old Skool.
Kickin’ It Old Skool made its premier this past weekend with some rather mixed reviews.
Personally, I am not a Jamie Kennedy “fan per se. I think the TV show The Jamie Kennedy Experiment may have been better served in the cable medium? As for the last Jamie Kennedy movie, Malibu’s Most Wanted… um no. Not cool. Not even a little. That’s what trying too hard to force people into fake laughter, looks like, on film.
As for this new movie, I have already been slightly turned off. I am not particularly drawn to the title “Kickin’ It Old Skool. because that phrase wore out its welcome about 5 years ago. Although, on the other hand, the title “Kickin It Old Skool, may just be clever enough, since the premise of the movie is about a child living in the 80’s, who had the gift for delivering some serious break dancing. Then, he falls victim to a head injury, after performing an elaborate adaptation of the helicopter move to impress the girl of his dreams. Finally he is subject to a coma for 21 years, but when he wakes up, he is emotionally, mentally and aesthetically trapped in 1986. Therefore the term “Old Skool which is a played out and used up phrases just might suit the project. I don’t know.
Why don’t you watch the video trailer below and tell me… Is this the kind of movie you will pay to see in a theatre? Have you already seen the movie? If so, what did you think of it? Or will you do what I will most likely do, save your money and wait for it to come out on video? (At least that way if it sucks… at least I can turn it into some sort of an at-home-drinking-game with friends.)
