Cave Dwellers, Unite!
Tonight is a big night, cause it’s the premier of Cavemen (ABC, 8 pm). OK, I’m sorta kidding. But I really am interested in seeing what they’ve done to take the premise of a 30 second commercial and turn it into a 30 minute sitcom. As I’ve mentioned before, most of the press is pretty bad, which almost has me rooting for the show. I said almost. Mostly, I’m very afraid for it. I doubt it will last, but maybe that’s just because I’m too cynical. It’s like a catch-22, because we are so used to shows not lasting without great ratings right away, that we don’t even bother to watch some show, fearing it will be cancelled. Of course, because no one is watching, the show does get cancelled.
This show may be one of those that’s dead before it gets going, but I, for one, plan on giving it at least a chance. Maybe even more than one if it’s not too awful tonight. I keep thinking, how bad can it really be? I mean, the first ep should be funny, at least, right? I know that my husband thinks the commercials are absolutely hysterical, every time he sees them. There’s probably more people like him out there. Maybe the show will find an audience and last longer than any one thinks.
Plus, Tuesday also means Bones, House, Law and Order: SVU and Reaper. It’s a good thing we have more than one VCR. I may have to seriously rethink that whole Tivo thing.
