Deck the Halls with DVRs
We are getting a DVR box today, which is very exciting. We have a new TV (42″ HD wall mount), although it’s not hooked up. I think I might stay up late on Christmas Eve and hook it up. Although, it’s doubtful I can do it by myself, so since my hubby will have to help me, no one will be surprised on Christmas morning. But it will be fun. We want to watch Polar Express first . . .
I also got lots of sitcom DVDs at the library again, plus more Little House on the Prairie. Did I mention that before? I picked up the first season right before Thanksgiving. I told my husband, there’s got to be a Thanksgiving episode, right? His reply, they’re all Thanksgiving episodes. *giggle* It’s really true. All heartwarming and good, clean, family fun episodes. Well, I’m enjoying them anyway.
Until just recently, that is, when my DVD player started to go all wonky. Then I started using the portable player, which I finally figured out how to hook up through the VCR, but then that one got kinda crazy. I guess it’s just all the dirty DVDs. Is that even possible?
We even gave in and watched Elf (we own that one) on our laptop. We just hooked it up to our stereo speakers. Now is the time I want to watch through all my favorite holiday movies. For instance, I always watch White Christmas when I decorate the tree. Also, I always, always watch Scrooge, the Alastair Sim version of A Christmas Carol from 1951, on Christmas Eve. No matter how late it is when I can finally sit down. I make some warm cider or hot chocolate and enjoy it - especially if everyone else goes to bed and leaves me alone to watch.
Last night I finally got around to Charlie Brown Christmas and How the Grinch Stole Christmas - later than when I normally watch them. This weekend will be time for movies like Christmas in Connecticut and Holiday Inn, plus any random Hallmark or Lifetime holiday movies I might have on tape, you know pathetic tear jerkers with someone like Patty Duke playing an angel. Then, next weekend, its time for It’s a Wonderful Life, leading right up to Scrooge. Alright, so they’re all old movies, but I like old movies.
But right now, I gotta go figure out how to hook up this DVR thingy . . .

I watched Elf the other night. First time. Not sure I’ll be adding it to my Christmas must-watch list. But why don’t you have Rudolph on yours? It’s the best Christmas show EVER made…please tell me you’ve seen itLOL.

Oh, I do watch Rudolph every year, too. I didn’t list every movie I watch, cause then people would think I was insane. Probably.

Don’t part with your illusions. When they are gone, you may still exist, but you have ceased to live.
