Despite New Rule, American Idol Loses Two
American Idol elimination show. Right away, we get the new rule (lame) and get to see the Idol house (amazingly cool).
The new rule is that the judges have the ability to save one contestant one time. So no more losing people like Jennifer Hudson or Chris Daughtry - and all of the lovely money that was lost along with them.
After the MJ medley group sing and dance, we have the recap. I have to say, that even with the blind guy and all the terrible dancers in this crowd, they are still less awkward than that terrible group last year. Then Ryan has a little chat with the kids on the couches, which is one of the things I can always live without.
The Ford commercial to the tune of We Will Rock You. Tell me, why is it that we never, ever see these commercials on TV at any other time?
Finally we get to the reason we are all sitting here and giving up another hour of our lives, the eliminations.
First up is Michael and he is safe. Allison is next and she is also safe. Then we have Jasmine and she is brought to center stage where we should never have to see her again. Matt (why is he the other Matt?) is safe, although he tried to go to center stage with Jasmine. Kris and Megan are next (she seems to have quite some following and I don’t get that, unless people just think she’s hot), but she is in the bottom with Jasmine. I wish we could lose both of them, but its not to be, as Ryan sends Megan back to the couches. Poor Jasmine has to sing and and then watch her bye-bye reel. She cries and Ryan comforts her. He can be a nice guy.
Now we have Kayne West and I know I should care, but I truly don’t. If I wasn’t watching this live, I’d be fast forwarding right now. I just don’t get today’s music, I guess. I never was a pop hit top 40’s kind of person. Do those screaming little swaybots really want to touch this guy? Are they truly that excited about him? The back of his pants are stupid, like he has to hurry and get to the bathroom and has already started pulling them down. Young people are idiots.
Back to eliminations, we have Scott, who is safe (color me surprised). Then Alexis. Safe! Danny next is sooooo safe. Now we have Anoop and he is in center stage. Back to the couches, we have Adam who is safe. So apparently Jorge is going to center stage. Jorge and Lil are up last. Lil is safe and Jorge is with Anoop. I don’t think I can take this tension. *sigh*
Jorge and Anoop are center stage. If dialidol is to be believed, the Anoop is very safe and Jorge is on his way out. That’s probably true, but instead of just telling us that, they make us sit through half a dozen commercials and a song by Kelly Clarkson. I’m not really a Kelly fan either, but I do like that she looks like a real person. So many pop stars are all fake looking or twiggy thin and strung out. She’s just normal.
OK, a few more commercials. You know, I’m thinking about this. All these car commercials and I have never, once, not one time, been influenced by a car commercial to buy a car. Never. I research and test drive, but commercials have no influence over my decision at all.
Finally, we get back to the eliminations. OK, so I sat all through this and I already knew. So it’s Jorge on the block who has to sing while the judges deliberate if he should be given another chance. He won’t be. Paula is dancing and Kara is gazing at nothing. Only Simon and Randy appear to be deliberating. But I kinda think their choice is already made. And it is, Jorge is gone.

Such a stupid twist. Now they get to be rejected by all of America and a panel of obviously biased judges too. Double humiliation…nice. And I noticed Paula dancing like an idiot when she was supposed to be “deliberating” too. Yeah, that was some serious decision making going on. I wish just once that someone would throw down that microphone and stomp off the stage in obvious protest.
