Good for the Geeks!

Yay!!! Big Bang Theory (CBS, Monday at 8:30 pm ET), which is shaping up to be a good little sitcom, is the season’s first new comedy to get a full-season pickup. It is only right, as Big Bang is the best new sitcom this year.
I’m not sure which part I liked best from last week. Where the guys were reenacting the Civil War on the table at the Waffle House with condiment bottles (complete with creatures like Godzilla and Indian gods), Leslie’s not-so-subtle subtle hints to Leonard, or the look on Penny’s face when she realized that Leonard’s relationship with Leslie wasn’t working out.
I definitely know I had fun watching all of that. Plus, it gave me hope for geeks everywhere. I should already have it, since I’m a total geek and my husband was captain of his high school football team, but still.
I also especially like Sheldon and all his little idiosyncrasies. I like that he’s willing to rely on Penny for advice on social issues he’s not sure about, like the tie on the doorknob, and I really love how he has to eat a certain food at a certain place on a certain day. It reminds of Monk (another of my favs) and, scarily, myself. I never thought Monk was all that crazy about being so anal. I mean, except, maybe, when he has to touch every pole or lamppost he passes. Cause that’s a little weird. But I’m slightly (only slightly) eccentric myself and I can totally get Sheldon. I like what I like as well, plus, I like routine and order. Also, sometimes, I don’t get social cues, maybe cause I am such a geek, but I prefer to think it’s cause I’m exceptionally smart, just like Sheldon and Monk, so there’s no room in my head for all that silly stuff.
And I plan to go right on thinking that, thank you!

I’ve always wanted to see Monk. It looks really funny. I’ll have to rent some of the DVD’s. And I should also watch Big Bang Theory. That girl was on 8 Simple Rules and I loved that show.

Laura, you’ll like Monk. He is funny and a little scary at the same time. Kinda like me.
Sanj, stop with all the reality tv!!! And no the Waffle House girl is not on this show. But it would be funny if she wasn’t wouldn’t it?
