Have You Heard About NY Comic Con?

by

joss_whedonOK, so if you read my other blog at watchingcw.com, you know I’m gonig to New York Comic Con and that I’m super excited. And a little scared.

See, here’s the thing. I’m totally pumped about getting to be in the same room as Joss Whedon. (I don’t even dare to think I might get to meet him.) But at the same time, I don’t know how I’m gonna be when I have to go in there all alone. I’m sure I’ll be fine. I mean, I should be able to find others of my kind, right? Don’t geeks of a color flock together? Something like that. I plan on wearing my “BuffyGroupie” and “Joss Is My Hero” shirts, and my Serenity hoodie, so I should be recognizable to other Whedonites. (Or is that Whedonists? Buffyphiles?)

I thought I had a line on like three other people I know in an online way (or people I know in an online way who know other people in an online way) who were going that I could hang with. But nothing worked out.

My husband volunteered to hang out with me a little just at the beginning, but I’d rather he didn’t actually. See, my husband does not get geeks. He’s the high school captain of the football team type. He’s actually a little embarrassed by my geekiness and wishes I’d be quiter about it. It sucks to be him.

In any case, being around him will make me even more nervous and probably scare away the very people I’m hoping to attract. I’ll have my press pass, so I’ll get to act all official and whip out my little notebook to ask questions and stuff like that. Oh, wait, I forgot, all the writing I do is online so I don’t have any little notebook. Well, then I guess I’ll have to whip out my little T-Mobile G1 and blog that way. Maybe. I’ll probably be too busy gaping at everyone around me with my mouth open to do any actual reporting.

This is gonna be so much fun.
