Idol Teachers

I just watched a video clip. It was from the pilot episode of a potential new sitcom called Teachers. The pilot seems to revolve around the life of a young, fresh-faced teacher named Tim Donnely, who is heading off for the first day of his new career.

I couldn’t tell you who all the actors were, because I didn’t really recognize them, but I did see one face I knew. Apparently, Constantine Maroulis, who finished in sixth place on American Idol Season 4, is a bad tempered music teacher, who considers himself a musical genius. But also, he appears to be playing himself, which is a little scary. Watch the clip and you’ll see what I mean. Here’s the clip:

I did a little research to see if I could find anything else out about this show, but so far it doesn’t even appear as a blip on anyone’s radar. It turns out there was another sitcom in 2006, also named “Teachers,” also with a fairly unknown cast (although I did recognize Kali Rocha from Buffy the Vampire Slayer), and that one only lasted 7 episodes. I don’t know if it was exactly the same premise cause there wasn’t too much info on that one either. I did see that that show was a copy of a show from the UK, so maybe it was different.

As for the Constantine version, I’d like to see it get picked up, just to see what he can really do. But honestly, after watching that clip, I doubt it. It didn’t seem too funny to me, but then Cavemen got picked up last year, so I guess anything is possible.

Just a question: what exactly is “a little scary” about Constantine playing any part in anything? He’s an awesome friend and person in real life, and an awesome talent as well. I’m not sure I understand comments like that from people who don’t even know him. Whatever.

  2. Sarah Says:

I know him too. He’s a horrible person. Vile, immoral, conceited, abusive, you name it. The “character” he seems to be portraying on this show is just himself. Much like he portrayed basically himself during his brief stint on the daytime soap The Bold and The Beautiful. Apparently he’ll never get cast playing anything but himself - which is comical for a few minutes, but ultimately everyone ends up hating the smarm bag.

  3. whatever Says:

Way to pass judgement on what? 20 seconds? How can you tell he’s bad-tempered or considers himself a genius? I took it that he is referring to his student as having potential greatness. He never says one thing about being a genius.

Only reason anyone even knows about this already is because this “terrible” person shared it with his fans. Doesn’t really gain him anything by sharing it, no ratings or anything, just that he knows the fans would enjoy seeing it. Yep, that’s horrid of him. And no, not everyone ends up hating him.

I am looking forward to seeing something besides reality shows for a change. Even if Constantine wasn’t on it, it has some potential. Hope it does well.

Sarah its you who are abusive.

  5. Toni Says:

First off, let me say that I appreciate everyone’s comments and we’re all entitled to our own point of view. So, thank you all for sharing.

Secondarily, I really like Constantine. I did from day one, and I’ve been following his career waiting for him to do something great, cause I think he’s capabale of that. What I thought was scary was that Constantine appears to be playing himself in this sitcom, but that the clip I saw made it seem like he was a bad tempered person who considered himself a musical genius, and I never thought of him as seeing himself that way.

I also didn’t think the pilot was too funny, but hopefully the show will get picked up and I’ll be proved wrong.

  6. Sanjumanji Says:

Ahhhhh…..Constantine. Apparently people still either love him or hate him. Such a complex man. But still hot and sexy as ever. Come on Sarah…you know you want him. :)

  7. Laura Says:

LOL!! I can’t believe Constantine is still such a touchy subject! Yikes.

Well, I personally know Constantine too (we are best friends) and he is the best person ever and he has feelings too you know… and he really likes unicorns.

  8. Toni Says:

Maybe Constantine does like unicorns, Laura, but I hear that Mark Wahlberg doesn’t.

  9. Laura Says:

True. Marky Mark does not like unicorns.
