Is Secret Life Starting to Bore?
Here’s the deal. I’m getting bored with The Secret Life of the American Teenager. I know there are only two more eps in this season, though, so I’m gonna stick it out. I can’t answer for next season, but I guess that all depends on how I feel at the time.
Part of this is really the fact that I already have so many other shows to watch and my DVR keeps getting filled up. Then I’m basically forced to say up late or get up early to watch things when I don’t feel like it. But the other part of it is that the show just isn’t holding my interest anymore.
Last week’s episode, all about Grace and Adrian throwing a baby shower for Amy, was, well, just . . . lame. Ish. I wish it was better, really I do, cause at first I loved this show. OK, so it was a typical teenage angsty soap opera filled with lots of drama and tears. But I love that. I also liked how it had a moral tale at its heart, instead of just the whole everybody can do whatever they want without any consequences or any parents (as is often the case in shows based on the lives of teenagers where its as if their parents don’t exist or are just too self-absorbed or stupid to notice what their children are doing). But somehow, for me anyway, the angsty-ness has turned to whiny-ness and the fun has turned to dull.
What do you think? It is just me, or is the show losing something?
