MARCIA WALLACE HONORED
Marcia Wallace was honored by the Roswell Park Cancer Institute Saturday for helping educate Americans about the importance of early cancer detection and inspiring others through her 20 years as a breast cancer survivor.
Marcia is best known to kids today as the voice of Mrs. Krabappel on The Simpsons. But she gained worldwide fame as Carol the secretary on The Bob Newhart Show in the 70’s. She wasn’t the original wisecracking secretary, but she is right there at the top of the list.
Marcia moved to NYC the day she graduated from college in Iowa weighing 230 pounds and had $150 bucks to her name. Her advice is to always try and match your money to your weight. Her sharp and witty humor has helped her all thru her life, from alcoholic and abusive parents, her conversion to Buddhism, her marriage, adoption of her son, widowhood, breast cancer and much more. She is truely one of a kind.
