True Blood and War
I’m a history buff, and I especially like Civil War stuff. I’m a fan of the whole Gone With The Wind, romanticized war image, and I strongly identify with the South’s position. I’m not saying slavery was right, obviously, I’m just saying that the South’s position in the War as being the underdog is something I can understand.
In any case, this week on True Blood, they focused on Bill’s past, with flashbacks to the War and his becoming a vampire. Its almost like they read this blog and knew I was losing interest, so they decided to go in a direction I would want to follow. (Clearly, they also know a lot about me that I’ve never mentioned, so I’m wondering if I should start being paranoid that my home is bugged or something.) Bottom line, vampires and the Civil War are two of my fave subjects. Put them together, and you’ve got me.
Also fun in this ep, was that Sam got to kiss Sookie. It didn’t all go well afterwards, but still, I’m glad he got the chance. I’ve always liked Sam and I felt bad that Sookie didn’t even seem to notice how much he liked her. It was a little dorky that he took her on a date to the church to listen to Bill talk about the Civil War, but even that was kinda cute.
Look, I’m gonna come right out and say that I think True Blood is losing it, quickly. But at least this this ep was good. Also, I like Rene’s (Michael Raymond-James) accent.
