Watching Chuck

by Toni

I love the Internet. I really, really love it. It’s allowing me to do something I was never able to do before. In the history of time. OK, I’m just getting crazy now, but here’s the deal.

cast_chuck1.jpgI didn’t watch Chuck. I had no intention of watching Chuck. Not for any real reason, other than I just felt like I was watching enough shows this season and I didn’t think I cared. I’m not even sure what I thought Chuck was about. I had read a little about it, but I was not well informed. So on Monday night, I was flipping channels, as I often do, trying to while away the time until Big Bang Theory at 8:30 pm, and lo and behold, I was looking at Adam Baldwin. No, he’s not one of the Baldwin brothers, thankfully. (In case you can’t tell from that snide “thankfully,” they aren’t on my top ten list.) Adam Baldwin played Jayne Cobb on Firefly, one of my fav Whedon shows. Now that was not the first time I became acquainted with him, but it is when I fell in love with him. I used to randomly hang around on the original Firefly boards online, cause he would go on there in the middle of the night and post. He loves to argue politics and he’s quite intelligent. Which is a shame, cause he usually plays big dumb thugs.

Well, not always. You might remember him as Major Mitchell from Independence Day. One of my all time fav movies. He shoots the alien. (But also, he was Animal Mother in Full Metal Jacket).

Anyway, when I saw Adam on there, I realized that I should be watching this show. I should watch Chuck. But it’s now halfway through the third episode. What to do? What to do? Should I wait until the DVDs come out and watch the whole season then? Should I tape it? I tape lots of shows. Some I don’t tape over in case I want to watch them again, but others, I do. If I tape Chuck, will I tape over it or should I get more tapes? Do I even want to start watching it from the middle? I hate doing that, cause what will I have missed? As you can see, I had lots of questions.

But then I discovered something. I can watch Chuck, from the beginning, online right here on the NBC website. All three eps are up (they seem to be there almost immediately after they air) and you can watch them anytime you want. And so, in the last two days, mixed in among other stuff, I’ve been watching Chuck online. I still have the third ep to go and so far, I like it. It’s a little drama, a little comedy, a little sci-fi and a little thriller (and a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll). Sorry, I got carried away.

If you haven’t seen Chuck, which airs on NBC on Mondays at 8 pm, check it out. And remember, you can start at the beginning.
